Technical Information
Failure of recently-installed commercial air conditioning
systems is costly and aggravating. Today, a leading
cause of failure is corrosion of key components in
the system.
Corrosion of copper tubing can lead to tubing perforation,
loss of refrigerant charge, and loss of efficient performance.
Materials used in construction cause air-conditioning system components to be exposed constantly to a variety of substances whose normal decomposition produces acids. These acids attack the copper, aluminum, and galvanized metals used to make today's coils. The results are Red Rust (Galvanic Corrosion), Coil Leaks (Formicary Corrosion) and aluminum discoloration and deterioration.
